Being One

Being one is a whole new lifestyle. He is learning some very important life skills and pretty much just running me in circles ALL DAY LONG!

He has picked up yet another musical instrument...the harmonica! And when I say he has 'picked up' an instrument, it pretty much means that he can physically pick it up and make noise. We were actually pretty proud of him for this though...because he had to figure out how to blow in and out. He doesn't sound half bad!

A backpack! So adorable! He picks it up and sticks an arm out and tries to get it on by himself. Before long we are going to start put all his stuff in there and make him pack it around himself!
He is learning how to give "Big Hugs" to stuffed animals, and other kids. Never to mom :( If you tell him to give another toddler a Big Hug, he will follow them and hunt them down until he has embraced them for at least thirty seconds. It really does melt your heart!
No explanation necessary for this one...little stinker.
He is starting to read more adult literature...starting with To Kill a Mockingbird. He loves to steal this book from Mary...always this book. Maybe its the bird on the front. The other day it got really quiet so naturally I panicked and ran to find him...and here he was sprawled out on the kitchen floor quietly reading.
He has also been loving Mary more every day. It is so adorable to see her 'read' to him.
Self feeding. I am struggling with this part. He really wants to do it himself, but he REFUSES to wear a bib. Every bib I have tried he can rip off. I am currently in the market for a full length smock that buttons up the back.
And of course...facing forward in the car. This has definitely improved his quality of life.

And this has definitely improved my quality of life! We've been waiting a long time to have our own personal servant.
