Since we haven't blogged in over a month, we decided to play catch up today, so this post counts as 4 or 5 posts...a fair trade don't you think?
Denise mother and sister came to visit a little while ago. It's always nice to have visitors (hint, hint) and I think they enjoyed themselves as much as Denise and I did having them here. It's great for us because it gives us an excuse to get into SF. But most importantly, when people come out we can justify eating out everyday! Cheeseboard for pizza, Ici or Lush for ice cream/gelato, Barney's for burgers, and Chez Panisse for when James comes out (at 100 dollars a plate we had to start saving up in January).
On mothers day I got Denise some flowers, let her sleep in for a bit, made her breakfast in bed and got her a gift certificate for an hour long massage (which she has yet to use). She wanted some nice pictures to commemorate the day, but Liam wasn't being to cooperative.
This is what usually happens when you try to hold him longer then 15 seconds. If it wasn't for digital cameras I swear we wouldn't have a single good picture of him.
Liam and Mary continue to become better and better friends...what a lucky kid, he gets 3 grandmothers. Although I guess she counts more as a great-grandma. Mary probably enjoys playing with him at least as much as Denise and I, but she definately has a lot more 'patience' then either of us and so she can do the same activities with him longer. But in all seriousness, we are lucky that those two get a long so well, Mary used to ask me about my "lovely wife" all the time, but now all she can talk about is that "cute little guy" who is the "cutest baby in all of California." Both of their faces light up whenever they see each other.
Eye candy for the grandma's.
At the very end of May we borrowed a baby back pack from a friend of ours and when hiking with some of our friends. We went to the Marin headlands, wich is a fairly easy hike along the coast in Marin County (literally just North of the Golden Gate Bridge). Although it looks pretty blustery, the day was quite nice and probably perfect weather for a hike. Liam really seemed to enjoy himself, especially the dirt and rocks he had for lunch.
However, getting carted around by me for a few hours was more tiring then Liam expected. So he decided to take a nap on the way down. Good thing we put sun screen on his face...
About a week or two ago we got invited to a birthday party that was held at Bridges bouldering gym. They rented out the entire space, so it was us, another couple we know and about twelve 14-year old girls. So needless to say, Liam had plenty of people to play with and plenty of things to grab. This hold ended up being his favorite in the entire gym, I wonder why.....
Although I couldn't climb (wich was actually very hard to do) Denise was a champ. I think she made it up the wall three times before losing all the strength in her arms and legs. But she pushed through, took plenty of breaks, and by the end was climbing some pretty great routes. Really this was all part of my plan, now that she is hooked, as soon as I recover from my surgery she'll want to go climbing as much as I do.
And finally, in honor of the final installment of the Harry Potter films, we started a Harry Potter movie marathon! Along with a group of other people, we get together and watch two movies each weekend (tonight is numbers 3 and 4) all culminating with a midnight showing on opening night (we've already lined up a babysitter). We decided it was only appropriate that Liam get into the spirit of the movies and so we used some of Denise's makeup to turn him into the 'boy who lived' or even the 'man who fell' (sorry, family joke. ask my Dad for clarification).
So that's it, now we're all caught up and don't have to post for another month! Oh and one last video....more grandma candy.
