The Prize Winning Lumberjack!

Happy Halloween!  We dressed up as lumberjacks this year.  We went to a Halloween party on Saturday night, where Liam made his first official debut as a bearded man.  Everybody kept commenting on how he looked more like Dan than ever.  He did look pretty good with a beard.

He was literally dancing a little jig when we took this picture:)

On Halloween day Liam and I were invited to an adorable Halloween lunch where we ate totally gross (but delicious) things like blood and bones, goblin eyes, and spiders.  It was very cute.

Then in the early evening I took Liam trick-or-treating on Solano Ave with our neighbors.  Most of the shops open their doors for trick-or-treaters.  It was a perfect way for Liam to go for the first time.  It was early in the day so there were tons of little kids out with their parents.  Liam did pretty well at picking out candy and sometimes putting it in his little bag...but most of the time he tried to stick it straight in his mouth.

Here is Liam with our adorable little neighbor, Thea.

This pose became very familiar as the night went on.

After trick-or-treating they had a party/costume contest on Solano Ave.  I decided to stop by at the last minute, and they were starting the costume contest.  Liam's age category was infants through six years old, so there were TONS of kids.  I thought it would be fun to let him walk across the stage and be part of the contest.  After it was over Liam ran wild through the party (Dan was still at school through all of this), and like a true lumberjack started foraging fruit on the ground and trying to eat it...okay, he succeeded in eating it, giving hugs to little girls he had never met, and stole candy from somebody else's treat bag.  I almsot left early, but before I could leave they announced the winners of the contest, and Liam placed 1st in his category!  It was so exciting, I couldn't believe it!  We got a 30.00 gift card to spend almost anywhere on Solano.  Talk about a sweet Halloween!  I'm telling you...it was all in the beard.

The best photo I could get from a stranger because nobody was there to take it for me:( But you can see the fruit that Liam was snacking on...and his major award!

I can't handle seeing these pictures and not being these. This is INCREDIBLE! A winning costume, indeed.

Oops, just realized I forgot to comment since I first saw this post. These pictures are ridiculously cute! Also, I was just looking at your art blog--you've done so much new work since I've been gone! It's awesome! I was just thinking last night that someday I'd like to commission a happy (maybe springtime?) tree to complement the rather brooding (though luminous!) tree I already have. But that will have to wait until we have money.
